Beans is an app for AI bots that run on your computers, with paired phones and tablets for chatting. This page describes the current app and this website. The developer is Heitor Ramon Ribeiro.
Your devices and identity
Your account is identified by cryptographic keys and a backup phrase. Beans does not require an email and password account. Your devices hold chat history, bot settings, files, keys, and the AI provider credentials you connect. Provider credentials sync to paired devices as an encrypted account blob.
Pairing and relay data
A relay you choose or operate stores public identity and device keys, encrypted chat and account blobs, encrypted attachments, and delivery metadata. It also handles native notification tokens. Messages, attachments, and provider credentials are encrypted on your devices before relay upload. The relay does not receive the keys that decrypt that content.
A relay still processes connection metadata, such as IP addresses, public keys, request timing, and data sizes. Encryption does not hide all of that metadata. Your relay operator controls its hosting, logs, backups, and retention.
AI providers and connected tools
The AI provider you connect receives the prompts, messages, attachments, and tool results sent to it to generate replies. This content is readable by that provider and subject to its policies. Relay encryption does not make an AI request private from its recipient. Connected plugins and tools can send information to their own services when used.
Bots run with your user permissions on their assigned computer. Review tool requests and connect only providers and tools you trust.
Phone permissions and notifications
The camera scans pairing QR codes. The photo and file pickers attach items you select. Microphone and speech recognition permissions support dictation; the device platform's speech service may process audio depending on its capabilities and settings.
Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging deliver notifications using a native device token and an encrypted notification payload. The relay sends a fixed fallback message, “New reply”, rather than the readable chat reply. Your paired device decrypts the reply.
Retention and deletion
Your devices retain their local data. Relay retention depends on its operator's configuration. The bundled relay supports authenticated account deletion and cleanup after inactivity.
On a paired Mac, Settings → Advanced → Delete Account asks the relay to delete the account's stored data and disconnect its devices. Unpairing one device or uninstalling the app does not delete the whole account. Copies, exports, operating-system backups, and data already sent to providers or tools require separate management.
Website hosting
This website uses Vercel hosting, which receives request metadata such as IP addresses, requested URLs, and browser headers to deliver and protect the site. The Beans website does not load an advertising or analytics script. See Vercel's privacy policy for its processing.
